About this Event
This concert from Hearing the Music of Early NSW 1788–1860, an Australian Research Council Discovery Project, investigates adjacent and connected musical practices across Indigenous, classical, popular and folk music traditions in Australia. In a sonic exploration of how culture and culture-making might be renewed, shared, celebrated and connected, this music responds to a call from history and a call from our own time.
Presented by leading scholars and performers from the University of Sydney including Neal Peres Da Costa, Jacinta Tobin, Jakelin Troy, Toby Martin, Daniel Yeadon, Anna Fraser, Julia Russoniello, Mikaela Oberg, Laura Case, Jake Magi and Naya Cook.
This event includes a display of musical items from our collection by Library curators both before and after the performance.
Presented in partnership with the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
