About this Event
Join Brenda Loukes (visual artist) & Roman Goron (jazz pianist) for an adventure into the nature of the creative process, and get inspired to jazz up your own creative practice.
Imagine watching a lively experimental interaction between a jazz pianist and a painter, where the artists respond in real time to each other’s creative expressions.
Attendees will be invited to participate in a light ‘doodling activity’ facilitated by Brenda, and to contribute their creative energy to a community painting.
We want to demonstrate how creativity has a place in our lives as a tool for healing and problem-solving.
Brenda has witnessed people being moved to tears by the experience of being allowed to create freely without the expectation of a ‘perfect product’ - whether they call themselves 'artists' or not.
You will leave feeling inspired and uplifted by witnessing the experimental nature of the creative process, and experience what magic can be achieved through collaboration.
Maybe you’ll go home and paint, redecorate or play your old piano?
Or maybe you'll remember how 'doodling' helped you to relax when you were a child.
PS: no art talent or experience is needed.
All (except children under 15) are welcome.

Important Things to Note
The Crossroads Community Center is BEHIND the Crossroads Mall, opposite the Bellevue Youth Theater. (16000 Northeast 10th Street)
Parking:
Limited parking is available at the Bellevue Youth Theater/ Crossroads Community Center.
There is more parking at the outdoor community park parking lots: The Southwest parking is lot located at 16140 NE 8th St.
The Northeast parking lot located at 999 164th Ave NE.
You'll have to walk through the park to get to the Community Center.
Please do not park in the marked spaces reserved for local businesses, in fire lanes, or along the driving lanes.
Carpooling is encouraged.
NB: DO NOT PARK at the Crossroads Bellevue Shopping Center - they are very strict about this and violators will be towed.
* Please arrive by 12pm and get seated so that we can begin promptly.* (Late entries will be allowed, but you'll miss out on the intro.)
No children under 15: This event is for adults to get the opportunity to explore their sometimes forgotten innate creative impulses, and to enjoy their evening without kids. Children get a lot of opportunities to be creative, whereas adults don't.
Limited capacity: book early - and kindly let us know if you cannot make it on the day.
Refreshments: Water (donated by Open Water) and light snacks will be served to keep you going.
Consent to be photographed: By attending, you give consent to being filmed and or photographed during the event for research, marketing and documentation purposes.
Cost: This event is free or by donation (Should you wish to donate, please add your donations now when you book your ticket. It will help with our setup costs . If you do donate, that entry will be your ticket. You do not need to purchase another free ticket as well. Thank you.)
