Swing by to the California Straw Arts Guild annual Marketplace this Saturday. You will get to meet straw artists and be mesmerized seeing them create three-dimensional artworks made from wheat and rye straw. You’ll be surprised at the versatily of the humble straw that our everyday baking flour comes from. This is NOT basket-making! You will get to see elements, such as flowers, that are made from straw threads that we have spun on a wheat spinner to create decorative flowers for jewelry and other straw pieces. Or using dyed, flattened straw to create beautiful images in a technique known as marquetry.You’ll also have a chance to purchase unique, handmade straw art that has been made by California straw artists.
