Celebrate CA Biodiversity Day with Grassroots Ecology to support biodiversity in our local open spaces!
About this Event

During this community workday, we will be working together to maintain our habitat restoration areas and manage invasive plants in the preserve, to protect and increase biodiversity!

Biodiversity, or "biological diversity" refers to the variety of life, and CA is a hotspot for biodiversity. is a celebration that inspires discovery and connection to the nature of California while encouraging actions to steward and protect it. This year, California Biodiversity Day events are happening between September 6-14, throughout the state!

Volunteer stewardship activities include watering native plants, removing invasive plants using hand tools, and preparing new planting areas by mulching. They may involve lifting, bending, kneeling, carrying buckets of water and mulch, pushing wheel barrows, and walking on uneven terrain carrying supplies.

Pearson-Arastradero Preserve has expansive oak woodlands and grasslands with beautiful trees and wildflowers. It is home to an abundance of wildlife, including deer, bobcats, coyotes, and many species of birds and insects. The work you do will support the health of the preserve's ecosystems!

Visit Grassroots Ecology’s Pearson-Arastradero Preserve webpage to learn more about the ecosystem and accessibility considerations.

Waivers/Registration: All volunteers attending the workday must be registered individually and have approved the online waiver through this Eventbrite page. Youth under 18 must have their legal guardian approve the waiver on their behalf. Volunteers age 12 and under require an accompanying adult.
