As we approach the 24th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, many questions about what happened to the towers still remain. For our August 2025 meeting we will be welcoming guest speaker: Mike Sokoll
Mike is a West Point graduate (Class of 1998), where he earned a degree in Engineering Management with a minor in Civil Engineering. A former U.S. Army Captain and graduate of both Airborne and Air Assault School, Mike is a recipient of the Bronze Star and the Order of the Wolf for his leadership in combat and training. After his military career, he transitioned into the private sector, managing the Atlanta Financial Center and later serving as a site developer for RaceTrac Petroleum. Since 2009, he has built deep technical expertise as a structural and application engineer in the utility sector and currently works as a Transmission Line Engineer.
As part of his structural engineering education at West Point, Mike studied the World Trade Center design and construction. In addition, Mike has extensive experience and knowledge of explosives (military and commercial) steel structure testing (coupon and full scale), failure analysis, structure design, and foundation engineering.
