Calgary Women in Energy is excited to host a luncheon featuring Premier Danielle Smith. Join CWiE for an engaging discussion with a panel of accomplished women in business. Enjoy a delicious lunch, great business discussions and intimate dialogue with the Premier of Alberta and four of Calgary Women in Energy’s remarkable members. The honorable Danielle Smith will speak to her leadership goals, accomplishments, and her journey in politics.

We ask our Calgary Women in Energy panelists to speak on:

Premier Danielle Smith

The Honorable Danielle Smith is a proud Albertan. As Leader of the governing United Conservative Party, she was sworn in as the nineteenth Premier of Alberta in October 2022, and represents the riding of Brooks-Medicine Hat in the Legislative Assembly.

Premier Smith has had a lifelong interest in Alberta public policy and finding the right balance between free enterprise and individual freedom, and the role of government. She was previously MLA for Highwood and leader of the Official Opposition.

Before re-entering politics, Premier Smith worked extensively in the media and in business, most recently as President of the Alberta Enterprise Group. Before that she was a radio host with Corus Entertainment for 6 years.

Premier Smith holds degrees in both Economics and English from the University of Calgary. She is married to David and proud stepmom to his son. Premier Smith and her husband own and operate a restaurant. They live in High River with their two dogs.

Elmien Wingert

Elmien Wingert is Vice President Corporate Services at CAPP. She has extensive experience in finance, strategic planning and governance. In her role, Elmien oversees internal corporate functions, including finance and accounting; legal and compliance; human resources; information technology; and administration. Throughout her career Elmien held a number of progressively senior finance leadership roles within the energy industry and has volunteered as a board member for a number of community organizations. In 2021, Elmien one of Avenue Magazine's Top 40 Under 40 award recipients. She is a strong advocate for empowering women and children and has previously volunteered with other organizations supporting the advancement of women, immigrants and youth.

SueAnne Fu-Joncic

SueAnne is a Senior Manager in KPMG’s People and Change Practice in Calgary, with 17 years of experience across the Energy, Technology, Manufacturing and Public sectors. She helps organizations accelerate value capture via their workforce by enabling adoption of digital technology, new ways of working and a growth-oriented culture. She has a passion for People Analytics and is a catalyst for courageous curiosity, supporting clients in finding opportunities to continuously improve across their people, process and technology dimensions. Previous to KPMG, SueAnne spent 10 years in Suncor Energy in their Transformation Management Office and HR function supporting people and workforce initiatives to progress towards operational excellence and digital transformation.

SueAnne has been a member of the CWiE organization and Board of Directors for over 11 years and is passionate about what Calgary Women in Energy is aspiring to achieve. In addition to CWIE, SueAnne is also Co-Chair of the University of Calgary Haskayne MBA Alumni Alliance and is an avid volunteer in the community.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and Master of Business Administration from the University of Calgary.

On a personal front, she is kept on her toes every day by her 2 boys (Ages 4 and 8) and her husband, juggling careers/work schedules, extra-curriculars and just trying to parent...

Just in Time. She loves to travel and eat… and picks her destinations based on gastronomic delights.

Marwa Eltohamy

Marwa Eltohamy is a Sales Professional at Siemens Canada with over 13 years of professional experience in multiple roles, including Electrical Design, Project Estimation, Sales, and Entrepreneurship. In her current role, she creates value for organizations by helping them achieve high availability and production optimization through innovative industrial automation solutions. Marwa has been a proud member of Calgary Women in Energy (CWiE) since 2019.

Marwa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, a Project Management diploma, and is certified in Supply Chain Management from ASCM.

Outside of work, Marwa finds joy in staying active, fostering meaningful relationships and cherishing quality time with her husband and kids. Immigrating in 2015, she is now a proud Canadian and mother who has worked hard in her personal professional life to integrate into Canadian society.

Leslie Cassidy

Leslie is an experienced professional in the energy industry with a diverse background. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and started her career in the environmental industry, first as a chemical analyst before transitioning into project management and business development. Currently Leslie works in business development at Vista Projects, an engineering and procurement consulting firm servicing the energy industry and specializing in digital transformation of assets. Her diverse professional history contributes to her role in leadership within the company and aids in her efforts to find solutions that fit clients varied needs. Outside of work Leslie enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading, learning new crafts, yoga, long walks while listening to podcasts, and attempting to keep her many plants alive.
