A family-friendly trail of 2.5-miles, easy-paced walking through fields, coniferous (Gruffalo) woodland, along the Rossendale Way and round the beautiful Calf Hey Reservoir on the edge of the West Pennine Moors. Time will be built in to explore the old buildings, observe wildlife, build dens, or simply relax.Paths are mostly well maintained, with some steps and a couple of stiles on this route. There is a little elevation, but generally easy walking. Great for children who love to explore, and are sturdy on their feet. Well behaved dogs are welcome on this one too.
Our *Quail Trails walks are designed to be a step up from our Snail Trails. These are a little bit longer and aimed at children aged 4-11 and their families. Although it is a child-centred event, individual adults are also welcome to join us!
Further family-friendly (Quail Trail) dates in 2024 will be Monday 21st October.
👀Keep an eye on our website: www.abigailstrails.co.uk/family-trails for these being added and I will also advertise them on our Facebook page.
*Quails are small ground-nesting bids, which inhabit grasslands, preferring areas of tall vegetation. Quails are more often heard than seen, with repeating chirps (sounds like children playing outside to me!).
