Join us for this talk from Adrian about his project to restore a Memorial Garden in Newburgh with a focus on restoring the roses. The story of Adrian's journey through horticulture and how a growing passion for roses led to the restoration of a Community Garden - from a work-shy teenager who disliked the obligatory duties on his father’s allotment, to a city boy, a brush with life-altering illness and a new found career in gardening.
Fours years ago he started a project to restore the Memorial Garden in Newburgh. It has been a success so far. He would like to share the process, in particular the restoration of the existing, as well as the addition of new, roses. Looking at success from simple good basic horticulture and plant choices made from experience.
Roses compel us with their beauty, fragrance and symbolism, roses are worthy of that extra special place in our hearts and gardens. Adrian hope to encourage those who may have been deterred in the past to re-engage with roses.
Adrian has been a professional gardener for 25 years and was a lecturer in Horticulture for East Surrey College from 20025 - 2008. he has been running rose courses in Scotland since 2020 and is a volunteer judge and assessor for Keep Scotland Beautiful.
