Recorded at Sun Drop Sound in Florence, Alabama, Sweet Critters was produced by Ben Tanner and John Paul White (The Civil Wars) and features Allison Russell, Aoife O’Donovan, and Caudle’s own touring band. The record has been praised for its warmth, honesty, and timeless songwriting. As John Paul White says,
