About this Event
The cycle training programme aims to enable more people to travel by bike. It is delivered as part of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s cycling and walking programme, @CityConnect1 @cyclecityconnect in partnership with local authorities and local delivery partners, including Colne Valley Cycle Therapy CIC, in Calderdale.
Sessions are available to all adults aged 16+. You can bring your own bike, or one will be provided for you. Please note: there are no toilet facilities available at the track.
Our Saturday sessions are run by two qualified and highly experienced instructors and are suitable for:
First time riders – Learn how to ride for the first time. These sessions are held within the athletics track premises. You will be given tips to help your balance, so you progress to pedalling with confidence.
Riding on trails or quiet local roads. These sessions are based at the athletics track but are held either on the Hebble Trail or local quiet roads. You will learn how to use gears to ride uphill and when on-road, how to control traffic, commuicate with drivers and who has priority at junctions. If you wish to learn how to ride in traffic, instructors will assess if you have the skills to ride whilst looking all around and also if you can ride one-handed whilst signalling before allowing you to participate in any on-road sessions.
We hope to see you soon.
