About this Event
Cahore Little Tern Conservation Project - End of Season Community Update 2025
Little Terns, a rare migratory seabird, make their way to Ireland from West Africa each summer.
For several years, a small colony has called Cahore home, where the birds have encountered several challenges including both environmental and human impacts. To aid the colony, the Cahore Little Tern Conservation Project was founded by the National Parks and Wildlife Services with the support of Ballygarrett Tidy Towns, local landowners and the local community. The project entailed a diverse set of conservation measures including predator fencing, regular patrols, surveying of the colony and public engagement events.
Now that the nesting season is over and the Terns have returned to their wintering grounds in West Africa, we invite you to join us at our Cahore Little Tern Project Wrap-up Event. Enjoy some finger food whilst we explore the outcomes of the 2025 breeding season, look into the future of the project and what the local community and visitors to Cahore can do to help these special birds.
We look forward to seeing you there!
