Billy King and Emily Slomovits grew up in the Southeast Michigan folk music community, and have performed across the Midwest for many years.
Accompanying himself adeptly on guitar, banjo, mandolin and keyboards, Billy crafts melodically compelling songs that maintain a sense of the timeless and classic, shifting seamlessly from catchy folk/rock to searing blues and featuring direct, thoughtful lyrics. In addition to a celebrated music career that began in his childhood, Billy helps run his family’s beloved Frog Holler Farm, and co-founded its annual music festival, Holler Fest.
Emily has been performing with her father and uncle, the treasured Ann Arbor duo Gemini, since she was eight years old. She studied classical violin for many years, gradually adding jazz and folk fiddle styles to her repertoire. In her teens, Emily picked up the guitar and began playing music with a variety of other musicians. She also teaches private violin, guitar, ukulele and voice lessons.
As a duo, Billy & Emily bring imaginative perspectives to vibrant original material, and to classic songs by Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, and the Beatles, among others. Their beautiful vocal harmonies are expertly showcased by their prowess on over a half-dozen instruments.
