May 20 – June 10 (4 Tuesday evenings)
5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The luminescent quality of watercolor lends itself well to the delicate nature of flowers. In this series of classes we will explore mixing color, simplifying intimidating blooms and using a variety of techniques to convey what nature has perfected. We will paint a different flower each week, including garden varieties and Colorado wildflowers. Composition, negative space and preserving highlights will be addressed. Whether you are new to painting with watercolor or have some experience, this colorful spring class will be a fun way to usher in summer.
Cold-pressed watercolor paper, 100% Cotton – I like Arches paper blocks. 7”x10” or 9”x12” (they can be cut down) Round Brushes – #4 or #6 Round and #8 or #10 Round – sable, squirrel or synthetic Paint Palette – metal, ceramic, or plastic (folding palettes are nice) Watercolor paints – I prefer Winsor & Newton, get the professional series – Not Cotman student grade. Tubes are my preference; pans are also fine.
