Monday, December 30, 6:00 - 8:00 pmShalom Spirituality Center
Chocolate and cocoa powder are made from cacao beans (also called “cacaocito”). While best known in its processed form as chocolate, traditional cultures regard cacao as a beautiful heart-opening medicine that can be used in various spiritual and health-related ways. Cacao contains caffeine and natural mood-enhancing compounds (such as theobromine and anandamide), as well as iron, magnesium, and other vitamins and minerals. Consuming cacao in a deliberate and ceremonial way can create a powerful synergy with singing, dancing, emotional processing, art and musical composition, trauma release, and so much more!
Join us as we celebrate life and the elements with a heartwarming cup of cacao from a beautiful, native, organic cacao forest in Chiapas, Mexico. We will share space for reflection, authentic relation, meditation, drumming, songs, poetry, prayers, words, etc., and then close with a heart share. Feel free to bring along an instrument and something to place on the altar which we will create—your favorite quotes or poems, a segment from your favorite book, crystals, jewelry, flowers, fruits, etc.
Noah’s many talents have been informed by his extensive travels, having spent time in Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Guatemala, and Mexico. Especially in Mexico, Noah experienced and became very passionate about cacao gatherings and authentic relation circles. Experiencing such a safe environment allowed him to grow as an artist, a musician, and a person, so he decided to start sharing the practice wherever he went.
If you have any questions about the cacao ceremony, please reach out to Noah at [email protected].
$15 per person; please register online at shalomretreats.org or by calling 563.582.3592 by noon on Monday, December 30. Walk-ins will be charged $20 at the door.
