CAC Book ClubTHE COLOR PURPLE
Screening & discussion on
Monday, March 10th at 7:30 PM
$16 Public | $10 Members
Join us for the first event of our new CAC Book Club where we'll be examining exciting works of literature and their film counterparts. Read the book prior to the event then join us for a film screening and discussion to reflect on characters, storylines and the central themes that drive the story’s impact across the two mediums. Come share your ideas and viewpoint in this engaging conversation with our community.
The first event will take place on Monday, March 10th. Prior to the screening, we will read Alice Walker’s 1982 Pulitzer Prize winning novel The Color Purple, then join us to watch Steven Spielberg’s Academy Award Nominated film adaptation, followed by a discussion of both.
A poignant tale of resilience and self-discovery in the early 20th-century American South, The Color Purple follows Celie (Whoopi Goldberg), an African American woman who endures abuse and oppression. Through letters and transformative relationships, she finds her voice, embraces love, and reclaims her independence and identity. (1985, 154 mins)
