CAC Book ClubATONEMENT
Screening and discussion on:
Monday, December 8th at 7:30 PM
$18 Public | $11 Members
Join us for the fourth event of our new CAC Book Club where we'll be examining exciting works of literature and their film counterparts. Read the book prior to the event then join us for a film screening and discussion to reflect on characters, storylines and the central themes that drive the story’s impact across the two mediums. Come share your ideas and viewpoint in this engaging conversation with our community.
The next program will take place on Monday, December 8th. Prior to the screening, we will read Ian McEwan’s 2001 novel Atonement, and then watch Joe Wright’s Academy Award, BAFTA, & Golden Globe Winning film adaptation, followed by a discussion of both.
From the award-winning director of Pride and Prejudice comes a stunning, critically acclaimed epic story of love. When a young girl catches her sister in a passionate embrace with a childhood friend, her jealousy drives her to tell a lie that will irrevocably change the course of all their lives forever. Academy Award nominee Keira Knightley and James McAvoy lead the all-star cast that includes Saoirse Ronan, Juno Temple, Benedict Cumberbatch, Vanessa Redgrave & Brenda Blethyn. (UK, USA, France, 2007, 123 mins, R, English | Dir. Joe Wright)
Copies of Ian McEwan’s Atonement are available, in person or online, from our friends at The Next Chapter in Huntington!
