About this Event
We're excited to present Cabaret to you on Thursday 20th November.
It's based on the 1966 stage musical by Joe Masteroff and duo Kander and Ebb, based on the 1955 play "I am Camera" by John Van Druten, based on the 1939 (and still brilliant) novel Goodbye to Berlin by Christopher Isherwood.
We follow the recent British transplant Brian, played by Micheal York, as he is introduced to the Weimar Berlin, first the wild and free underground world, set in the Kit Kat Klub's cabaret, and then to the slow creeping in of fascism as it eventually reaches their hedonistic sanctuary.
The standout performance is undoubtedly from Liza Minnelli as Sally Bowls, and it won her an Oscar and a place in musical stardom.
I have a lot more to say about this film, but I am going to hold my tounge until I see you on the night!
