About this Event

Interested in learning how artificial intelligence (AI) can be used to study neurological disorders or epidemics? Fascinated by how deep-learning algorithms and computational methods can advance patient care in hospitals and streamline clinical workflow? Then this will be just the perfect conference day for you!

The Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology Student Union at the University of Toronto proudly presents the 13th installment of our annual research conference series: "Byte-Sized Biology: How AI Decodes Human Health Bit-by-Bit"

Join us this January in Toronto as we take a deep dive into the innovative research conducted by world-renowned researchers on artificial intelligence and human health. This conference will shed light on the the most recent developments in the fields of AI, machine learning and bioinformatics, inspiring our attendees to explore their cutting-edge, untapped potential for human health.

We will be featuring our keynote speaker Dr. Phedias Diamandis (UHN), a renowned expert leveraging AI in neuropathology, and speaker Dr. Muhammad Mamdani (Vector Institute, T-CAIREM, St.Michael's Hospital), a leader on the application of AI to improve patient outcome and hospital efficiency. We will also be featuring Dr. Michael Brudno (Vector Institute, UHN), Dr. Anna Goldenberg (T-CAIREM, SickKids), Dr. Susan Poutanen (UHN, Mount Sinai Hospital) and Dr. Venkata Duvvuri (Public Health Ontario). The event will conclude with a panel discussion where attendees can directly engage with the experts on their thoughts regarding the field's future trajectory.

The conference is FREE and open for all to attend, and will take place at two conference auditoriums at the University of Toronto's St. George Campus (one main hall and one overflow hall, details to be announced later). Breakfast and drinks (coffee, tea, water) will be provided for all attendees. While we would like to accomdate lunch for all, please note that lunch will be guaranteed only for University of Toronto undergraduate students, and the rest will be served on a first-come first-serve basis for all other attendees. Attendees will also have an opportunity to win several raffle prizes at the end of the conference! Check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m. on the day of the conference.

You MUST REGISTER on Eventbrite in order to attend the event!
