Buttoners consists of six short stories, told mostly with dark humor, irony, and often a bitterly sharp tone. They explore an ancient curse, human infidelity, strange obsessions, an unexpected miracle, and hypocritical forgiveness. Each story has a unique structure, a distinct atmosphere, and its own stylistic approach—yet they share recurring motifs, interconnected and observing the same themes from different angles.

This year’s rooftop cinema series revisits the 1990s in Czechoslovakia and Czechia — a time when freedom seemed to have no limits. A coming-of-age moment for both individuals and a country, the decade saw the rise of cult classics like The Ride, The Idiot Returns, Buttoners, The Smoke, The Garden… and more.
