An adrenaline rush of first love and first fights, Butterfly Kicks by Jamila Main follows three teenagers as they experience queer self discovery, bravery, and loyalty in their claustrophobic coastal town.A world premiere, Butterfly Kicks rides a wave of readings and awards (finalist 2020 Queer Playwright Award; 2018 Queer Short Story Award) all the way to its first flight onstage at RUMPUS.
Directed by Mary Angley (Grief Lightning) and with a cast of Adelaide’s finest actors, Butterfly Kicks will draw you into the whirlpool of teenage crushes and schoolyard politics.
