In this class you will learn the essential techniques for decorating a buttercream cake.
SPECIAL INCLUSIONS : take home your own long edge scraper and a custom *Caking Mad buttercream/ganache lid. RRP $28.40
Skill Level
No previous experience is required to complete this class. Whether you have never decorated a cake before, or just wish to refine your cake decorating skills, this course is perfect for you.
Suitable for ages 14+
Outcomes
- Learn to torte, fill, crumb coat (mask) and then cover the cake with a smooth buttercream finish
- Learn our fool proof method for getting the perfect smooth finish on your cake with crisp, sharp edges and straight sides
- Learn about colour harmony on your cake
- Learn how to colour buttercream in to various complimentary shades.
- Discover which are the best gels and oil based colours to use for buttercream.
- Decorate your cake with pretty palette knife buttercream textures, florals or patterns
- Learn to securely attach extra decorations to your cake
- Add additional decorations - fondant accents, sprinkles. You could even add a greeting to your cake if you wish

Requirements
- Please wear enclosed shoes. We will provide you with an apron.
- Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the class starting time
**PLEASE NOTE : the photos shown are your inspiration pictures for this class. We will be doing palette knife work in the class but we are happy to discuss how to achieve different finishes on your cakes at home too!
