Greetings from the womb.

My next Butoh class is coming up on August 10th at CCA Glasgow. I'd be honoured if you can float with me. Details of what to expect during my standard class are below.
As usual, all bodies and experiences are welcome. Though I am not a therapist, I strive to take care of everyone's journey through the class and am on hand to discuss physical and emotional challenges. Please message me in advance or grab a word with me at the beginning of class if you have particular concerns.
Discounts are available beyond the concession price if you're struggling; again, please message me if that's the case. Box office tickets can be bought at the link.
Go well and madly

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Butoh is an immersive dance form originating in Japan, dubbed the ‘dance of darkness’ and also a 'dance of the womb'. We use gravity and fluid-awareness exercises to dissolve tension and surreal imagery to awaken the Imagination-body, unlocking the unique dance within each of us. Moving-meditation exercises aim to increase our physical honesty and ability to listen to body energies. Then through improvisation, we experience how surrendering to images frees our bodies and enables new experiences of our own being.
No prior experience is needed. These workshops are suitable for anyone interested in expanding their notion of what a human body can be, whether or not you consider yourself a dancer. We are not 'performing' for each other so much as dropping our daily body habits to uncover and share the Imagination hidden beneath. The CCA is a pretty accessible venue, and if you have any questions or anxieties around access needs please email me to discuss.
Paul Michael Henry has studied Butoh dance with renowned teachers including Yoshito Ohno, Yukio Waguri, Kayo Mikami, Seisaku & Yuri, Tadashi Endo, Yumiko Yoshioka, Imre Thormann, Yuko Kaseki, Masaki Iwana and Gyohei Zaitsu. These workshops are their synthesis of these experiences and their own research.
