The last great comedy of the silent era, and one of the greatest comedies of all time, Buster Keaton’s The General is set during the American Civil War and follows railroad engineer Johnny Gray (Keaton) who has his beloved locomotive, which happens to be carrying his fiancé, stolen by Union spies. Featuring one of most iconic chase sequences ever put to film, Johnny sets off in hot pursuit, waging a hilarious one-man war against hijackers.
