About this Event
Course Overview
On the first day we will spend some time getting to know each other and explaining what to expect from the training. You will then be asked to make some comments about what you want to get from this training. This will help us to learn more about what you would like to learn and develop during these few days.
Topics covered in this course
Definitions : We will show you the world of problem solving and decision making and explain what it means to dissect the problem. Participants will hone their skills on a case study and show you the eight elements (definition building).
Getting Real : Participants will get feedback on their problem-solving approach with an assignment response in which they’ll show off their approach to a challenge and proposed solutions.
The Problem Solving Model : In this session learners will discover a three step model to apply to a problem. Then they will work on two real life scenarios and see the results on the ground!
The Toolkit, for Problem Solving : We shall discuss seven tools to process to solve problems and think clearly. We shall also mention two types of thinking tools (management approaches: levels of service and fishbone analysis), plus brainstorming and brainwriting. Your toughest business challenges deserve such great solutions!
Aspirinia : Now we’ll put all of this knowledge to the test, using it for a case study.
Getting Familiar with SWOT Analysis : Find out how SWOT analysis can steer your organisation towards solving business problems. This session will guide you through how to generate strategies based on outcomes.
Enabling Effective Group Decisions : Good group problem solving is essential for teams. Here we examine the ingredients that make it possible.
Analysing and Selecting Solutions : This part of the session is all about judgment – the step in the problem solving process. Let’s look at sound decisions and see where they’ll take us!
Planning and Organisation : This course will turn participants into planners (‘ready to make a plan that will allow you to solve almost any problem’), organisers (‘now you know all about organising, and can organise almost any activity’), analysers (‘it is great now to finish your activity, and check your result with a follow up analysis’), and celebrators (‘it feels great, everything has come toghether and you can celebrate your success’)!
Wrapping up the workshop : At the end of the workshop, participants can ask questions and make a roadmap of what they’d like to do.
