There are two styles of chess tournaments

RAPID-Tournament

Rules:

• Registration Ends at 7:15. The tournament will start at 7:30
• Both opponents have 10 minutes on their respective clocks.
• You either lose by checkmate or by running out of all the time on your clock.
• There will be five rounds, and the tournament generally lasts 2.5hrs.
• Touch move, meaning a player’s move is locked in once they touch a piece. Players can touch any piece by saying "adjust" on their time.
• The tournament-style will be swiss, meaning there is no elimination. A win counts as one point. A draw is half a point, and a loss is zero points. At the end of the five rounds, whoever has the most points, wins! Prizes for all skill levels.

BLITZ- Tournament

Rules:

• There will be 7 rounds, and the tournament generally lasts 3 hrs
• Touch move, meaning a player’s move is locked in once they touch a piece. Players can touch any piece by saying "adjust" on their time.
• The tournament-style will be swiss, meaning there is no elimination. A win counts as one point. A draw is half a point, and a loss is zero points. At the end of the seven rounds, whoever has the most points, wins! Prizes for all skill levels.
