Hey crew, I’ve been thinking about running some free beginner-friendly workshops for aspiring Audio Visual Technicians. These sessions will be perfect for anyone looking to get more hands-on with the technical side of event production, whether it’s for small festivals, doofs, club nights, or similar events.
If there’s enough interest, I’d love to cover topics such as:
# Introduction to VJing and setting up a basic show
# Using projectors and LED screens effectively
# Compliant laser operation and safety
# Basic audio and PA system fundamentals
To start things off, the first workshop will be held at Port Beach Brewery (band room), where I’ll cover the basics of setting up a VJ show for beginners. This session will run for about 60 to 90 minutes and will include:
1) Where to find VJ content, such as loops, videos, and images
2) Basic content playback using free software like VLC
3) Using visualizer software to enhance performances
4) A basic introduction to Resolume for advanced playback and mapping
These workshops are designed as a casual introduction rather than an intensive training session, with the goal of sparking curiosity and hopefully encouraging further investigation.
Just hit the 'Going' button if you'd like to come so I can get a better idea of numbers.
