About this Event

Come and join us on the shady grassed area next to the Queens Park Enviromental Education Centre for Bush Kindy, lead by Areta from Bushy Kindy Teaching.

What is Bush Kindy?

Bush Kindy refers to play-based learning for children in outdoor environments whereby interaction occurs between nature's loose parts, each other and Educators/Teachers. Bush Kindy can also be called -Bush Kindergarten, Bush Kinder, Nature Play, Forest Schooling , Nature Immersion or Beach Kindy.

Parents and caregivers stay and supervise their children at all times for our Bush Kindy program.

What should my child wear?

It is recommended to wear long-sleeved cotton shirt and pants, covered toe shoes, a wide brimmed hat, sunscreen, and insect repellent. On wet or muddy days, children can wear puddle pants/suits/rain jackets and gumboots if they wish.

Please ensure clothes are appropriate for messy play, and bring your children a spare pair of clothes to change into.

What happens at a bush play session?

Bush play sessions generally include loose parts play, arts and craft, nature exploration, sensory play (mud, sand, clay, water), a small bush walk, exploration of plants and animals, and group songs/story/puppet time.

How do you cater for all abilities?

Please let us know before you attend if you or your child have particular requirements by emailling [email protected] so we can ensure you feel relaxed and have easy access to our play experiences. All programs provide wheelchair access, shade, diverse play experiences, and options for diverse abilities and ages. Nature offers a world of experiences to delight all senses. For individuals sensitive to noise, nature provides a peaceful escape, free from walls and harsh echoes.

Does it cost to attend?

All sessions at the Queens Park Environmental Education Centre are free, however bookings are essential (tickets booked for participating children only). If you have a booking but can no longer attend, please make sure you cancel your order to allow other families to participate.

What facilities are available?

Bush Kindy is located within easy walking distance of free parking, including accessible parking spots. There are toilets on site with change facilities and a cafe is available to purchase refreshments.
