In rural communities, we’re pretty good at cracking on, even when things get tough. But mental health is one of those things we shouldn’t just “harden up” about. That’s why this night matters.Aspiring Rotary is putting on Bush, Balls & Breaking Barriers ,a good, honest evening to yarn, listen, and support Mental Hunts , who are doing awesome work for mental wellbeing in our rural community.
🗓 Sat 28 Feb 2026
📍 Lake Wānaka Centre
⏰ 5–10 PM | 🎟 $35
You’ll hear true stories of downfall and redemption from Lou Vincent, MC’d by Matt Chisholm, with powerful talks from Glen Thurston and Kathryn Wright. No fluff, just real life. There’ll also be a bar on site, food available, and a live auction with some great prizes, with all proceeds going toward Mental Hunts.
Come along, grab a seat, have a laugh, share a bite, listen to some great talks and help us look after our own.
That’s what community’s all about.
Please note: This event will include discussions around mental health challenges, including suicide. It is recommended for ages 16 and over. Parental discretion is advised.
