About this Event

Founded in Edinburgh in 1890, the Ninety Burns Club has been raising a glass to Scotland’s national poet for more than a century. Since its very first dinner held on the 131st anniversary of Robert Burns’ birth, the Club has gathered almost every year to honour the Bard with good food, great drams and expectional company.

In its early days, the Club was hosting excursions around Scotland and visiting the graves of those who inspired Burns’ finest works. Its annual Anniversary Dinner became a major event, at one point also boasting the largest Burns club membership in Edinburgh and even featuring performances by military bands. Classic multi-course feasts were the norm, complete with everything from cock-a-leekie soup and oysters to halibut, beef, turkey and decadent desserts.

The Club has evolved over time and is now open to everyone that wants to join, is keen to appreciate the life of the Bard and celebrate it together.

Today’s Anniversary Dinners may be slightly different in courses, but remain rich in tradition: the haggis is addressed, the toasts are heartfelt and funny, the recitations are spirited, and there’s always music and dancing to carry the night home.

For anyone curious about Scottish heritage, poetry, or simply a good night steeped in history and camaraderie, the Ninety Burns Club offers a warm welcome and a celebration you won’t forget.
