Burns Night Celebration at the Brewery Market with a Celtic Twist
Join us on January 25th for a unique Burns Night celebration, where we not only pay tribute to the great Scottish poet Robert Burns but also explore the historic ties between mead, poetry and Scotland.
- Meads and Scottish Ales: Journey through a tasting of fine meads and traditional Scottish ales, including the fabled Heather Ale. As you sip, discover the fascinating stories and historical connections.
- The Tale of Heather Ale: Uncover the history of Heather Ale, a legendary brew from Scotland, alongside tales of its mysterious origins and its symbolic significance in Scottish culture.
- Celtic Connections: Learn about the historical and cultural ties between mead and Scotland. Delve into what has influenced this drink through the ages, from poems and folklore to rebellions and alliances.
- A Tale of Two Whiskies: Yes, they'll be two whiskies for you to try. Both of them Scottish. I'll say no more about this until the night.
- Traditional Haggis Supper: Feast on a classic haggis, prepared in the traditional Scottish way, and understand its significance in Scottish culture, complemented by a selection of bard-inspired side dishes. There is a veggie option, please ensure you add on the VEGETARIAN option at the till.
- Poetry Readings: Experience the magic of Robert Burns' poetry, interspersed with poetic verses, highlighting the linguistic and cultural richness of the Celts.
