About this Event

Burnie Historical Society at the Burnie Library, 1st floor. (Access through the door off Little Alexander Street.)

Topic : "Is the news all bad?"

Intro:

Thanks to the internet, we've never had more information at our fingertips, but how can we trust what we read, hear and watch?

Burnie local and former ABC foreign correspondent Chris Clark picks his way through the challenges of fact-finding in a world dominated by social media.

Where do you find trustworthy news sources and what damage is being done by those who proclaim 'alternative' facts and a 'post truth' world.

Chris spent 35 years in journalism, covering everything from farming to federal politics, and was the ABC correspondent at different times in Moscow, London and Jerusalem.

Where does he go for his news now, and what happened to the 'good old days?'
