The world of burlesque is as vast and differing as each individual who comes to it, and DeeDee wants to give you a chance to sample her favorite styles!
Learn new movement combos each week: anything from slow-burn techniques, bold and fierce compositions, or the joy of comedic flair. Discover new (and dare we say, exciting!) ways to move your body in a fun and welcoming atmosphere where you’re encouraged to embrace your unique sexiness. It’s not simply movement and choreo though - you’ll also learn how to incorporate details that add depth to a performance, giving your spicy reveal that extra oomph!
This class is for you if you’re 18 or older and are looking for an opportunity to creatively move your body, have fun with your sensuality, and play in the art of burlesque within a body-positive community. All genders and skill levels are welcome.
Already made your stage debut? This class still has plenty to offer you as well! It’s a chance to re-visit some fundamentals, learn fresh combos, and keep yourself creatively inspired between performances. Think of it as a little burlesque tune-up.
What you’ll need for class:
Clothing that allows you to move comfortably - leggings and fitted tops are great!
Dance shoes or bare/socked feet (no street shoes allowed on studio floor)
Water bottle for hydration
An open mind and a positive attitude
Clothing/costume props such as gloves and robes that may be needed for a specific movement combo can be provided for use during that class time. Provided props must be returned at the end of class.
By attending this class you are expected to be kind, courteous, and respectful to your classmates and instructor. As part of our commitment to creating a safe space for exploration in the art of burlesque, harassment or bullying of any kind will not be tolerated and will be grounds for removal from class.
Why take a class with DeeDee?
DeeDee has been dancing since she could walk, and has been performing burlesque with Sweet Cheeks Cabaret since 2018. She has dabbled in many forms and styles of dance throughout her life, and while she might not be able to teach you all the technical terms, she’s excited to help you figure out how to get your body to do that really cool thing that you saw! You’ll find heavy influences of bellydance, Fosse-style jazz, and intuitive movements in her choreography.
