Join us for a magical, free celebration that lights up Bunbury with the spirit of Chinese culture over two evenings! Our community has come together to create two nights of wonder and reflection, with lanterns, lights, and immersive installations inspired by tradition and local creativity.
🪷 What to Expect:
- Explore the enchanting Lantern Walk, featuring 600 lanterns decorated by local community groups.
- Pause for a photo op at many of our displays, including the ever popular peonies!
- Our performers will captivate you with their range of Chinese dances, including a Traditional Fan Dance, and a Mini Dragon Dance!
- Spot our koi and dragon lanterns in the trees.
- Our Lam Tsuen Wishing Tree invites you to share hopes for the new year.
🏮 NEW! 2025: the Year of the Snake 🐍
- Look out! The Bunbury Friendship Garden Labyrinth is being transformed into a board of Snakes and Ladders! Scan the QR code on-site to take part with our virtual dice roller.
- For the first time, we’re thrilled to present a Shadow Puppet Play, a heartfelt performance by children from six local schools. They’ve collaborated with artists and puppeteers to bring to life the beloved folktale of the 12 zodiac animals and their legendary race to reach the Jade Emperor. This delightful tale will be performed under the stars, adding a sense of wonder and tradition to the night.
- SAUSAGE SIZZLE: enjoy a wallet-friendly , wastage-friendly sausage sizzle with the best sauces from around Asia. Pork, beef and vego sausages available.
🌳 BYO Picnic: Relax in a designated area for BYO picnics (no food trucks), where you can soak in the serene atmosphere and share a meal surrounded by the glow of lanterns.
Let’s come together as a community to celebrate the beauty, stories, and connections that make our world brighter. ✨
