About this Event
From Spring to Autumn, we see bumblebees buzzing in our gardens. Spend the day learning about the common 7 types of bumblebees you may see every day; including their lifecycles, biology and how to ID these unique species.
If the weather allows, we will then head outside to see what bumblebees we can find and put our new ID skills to the test! Get a closer look at these iconic creatures, before letting them go about their day.
You will leave knowing how to help these charismatic species at home and feel empowered to tell everyone else!
Tutor - Lizzie Foster, Surrey Wildlife Trust Team Wilder Engagement Officer.
Lizzie has been working with the Surrey Wildlife Trust education team since 2018. Before that she was an active volunteer for the Trust. She now has a varied role which includes planning educational and family events, training volunteers, and project managing Wilder School programmes across Surrey. These help to encourage nature into school grounds while training teachers to take lessons outside. Over the recently she has set up a BeeWalk, created by the Bumblebee Conservation trust, with volunteers to survey what bumblebee species can be found at Nower Wood and is excited to share what she has learned with others.
