About Prof. Dr. Anton Andonov
Prof. Dr. Anton Andonov is a graduate of the National School of Dance Art in Sofia and the Academy of Music, Dance, and Fine Arts in Plovdiv, which he completed in 2000 with a specialization in Choreographic Direction. After graduating, he began working as an assistant at the Academy. From 2011 to 2024 he served as Head of the Department of Choreography, and since 2024 he has held the position of Vice Rector of the Academy of Music, Dance, and Fine Arts “Prof. Asen Diamandiev” in Plovdiv.
He is the author of scholarly works (monographs, studies, articles) on Bulgarian stage and traditional dance folklore. Since 2018 he has been a lecturer in Choreographic Composition at the Institute for Artistic Play in Belgrade, Serbia.
Since 1995 he has been a solo ballet artist and ballet master with the “Trakia” Folklore Ensemble in Plovdiv, and since 2010 he has been a choreographer with the “Sunny Beach” Folklore Ensemble in Nessebar. He is the author of stage dance works for renowned professional and amateur folklore ensembles.
He has taught traditional Bulgarian dance folklore in Bulgaria, France, Belgium, Italy, England, Greece, Serbia, the USA, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and other countries. He has served as a jury member in numerous international and national competitions and festivals.
