Come and enjoy the magic of the Bulgarian traditional music and dance!As part of the Balkan heritage the Balkan folklore is rich and full of energy.
Our Dance classes are Open to everyone who is willing to give it a go.
We start with Basic Warm up and 40 min introductory to a HORO dances (circle dance where first you learn the basic cambination of steps and then we dance together in a cirle.
No partner or dance experience needed to join.
The circle dances are with high energy, best cardio exercise, good for your brain and your body.
Bulgarian dance Ensemble Horo has been performing in Wellington since 2017. You can join us for regular practicas and perform with us at different events in Wellington.

- Casual price is $10 per person per session (Sessions are usually from 1.5 hours for adults and 30 min for kids

About the teacher/choreographer of Bulgarian Ensemble Horo:
Lilia Petrova de Castro started the magic of the Bulgarian Folk Dances at the age of 8. She has 15+ years of experience dancing and performing in Bulgaria and Europe with the Dance ensemble ”Svetlina” and the prestigious Bulgarian folk dance ensemble “Sredetz”. She has been teaching Latin Dancing for the past 15 years in Wellington. Since 2017 she has been leading the Bulgarian Balkan Dance Lessons in Wellington who have attracted not only members of the Bulgarian community in Wellington, but also other nationalities.
Those classes are open to the wider Wellington community.
Lilia is passionate about teaching and helping people to overcome their fear of dancing.
