A special return offering for the greater Omaha (NE) Metro region and Eastern Nebraska-Iowa area. Offering our Signature National Walking Lecture Tour with a focus on building construction, occupancy risks, tactical, operational and command considerations. Taking to the Streets of the Old Market area of Downtown Omaha, NE discussing Building Construction, Brick n’ Joists, Lofts, Mixed-use occupancies, new Podium and Multiple Occupancy Apartments, Commercial and Office-Retail and Local Business occupancies. Lots to discuss from Type III Brick n’ Joists, Re-utilized and Adaptive Renovated Type IVs, Area Hybrids, Class I and II Office, Retail and plenty of mixed-use and mixed-occupancies.
This opportunity will offer an informative and educational experience reading buildings, developing size-up , occupancy risk and decision-making skill sets, gaining greater perspectives on building construction, architecture and engineering, discussing a wide degree of operational considerations, fireground decision-making considerations based on predictable building performance and outcomes.
The Tour event will start in the Old Market District with a tour briefing before heading out on to the streets for a facilitated tour and street discussions looking at a wide variety of buildings and occupancies and concluding with a debriefing session at the local Dubliner Pub concluding. We will make our way around a 15-20 plus city block area.
We are offering a special One day Tour Sessions to accommodate area-regional Volunteer and Career staff from the region.
A registration discount is provided to Omaha Fire Department Career Personnel. (ensure FD info is added at time of registration to verify status)

Please Note: Tour Sessions may be subject to cancellation IF total enrollment for that session is too low to facilitate a group tour. We will try to accommodate the impact of any such changes to an attendee; however we reserve the right to modify the schedule and tour as needed including switching to an alternate future date.
The Tour will be Weather Dependent based on forecast or actual weather factors experienced prior to or at the time of the event. In the event of forecast adverse weather; the event and tour is subject to cancellation.

The Instructor has discretion to cancel the event at any time prior to or during the event tour based on emergent adverse weather for the safety, health and well-being of the attendees.

Instructor
Christopher J. Naum, SFPE is a 40 plus year fire service veteran and a highly regarded national and international instructor, author, lecturer and fire officer. He is a distinguished authority on building sciences and architectural construction issues affecting fireground operations, command and tactics and has traveled extensively throughout the United States and internationally delivering training programs on building performance, construction and firefighting, fireground command management and operational safety. He is the Chief of Training for the Command Institute and is a technical consultant and subject matter expert to the NIOSH (USA) Firefighter Fatality Investigation & Prevention Program. A well-respected fire command and fireground operations technical advisor and consultant, in addition he is a former architect and fire protection engineer.
