Summary:
As the design industry continues to evolve, EUA has been seeking out more reliable and consistent metrics to support sustainable product selections. As such, EUA has committed to the AIA Architecture & Design Materials Pledge. This brief session will cover the AIA Materials Pledge, Common Material Framework and how they are being integrated within the design industry.
Bio:
As a child, Rachel was fascinated by nature and dreamed of following in her grandfather's footsteps as a naturalist. However, as she grew older, her love for the outdoors was challenged by the visible effects of climate change. In 2019, Rachel entered the building and construction industry, which has been identified as one of the primary contributors to carbon emissions.
Today, she works at the EUA office in Milwaukee's Third Ward. Rachel's role involves ensuring that their projects are environmentally sustainable, whether it's through obtaining Green Building Certifications or working with their design team to incorporate sustainable practices. She conducts daylighting and embodied carbon analyses and collaborates with their interior designers to select ecologically beneficial and healthy materials. Additionally, Rachel has spearheaded initiatives like the AIA Materials Pledge at EUA and has been instrumental in organizing their design library to promote sustainable choices.
Rachel's goal is to continue driving sustainability efforts within the industry, and to contribute to a healthier, more sustainable future for generations to come.
