Building Information Modelling (BIM)
About this Event

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is revolutionising the construction industry by generating significant economical and environmental benefits. Creating digital descriptions of all aspects of a physical construction project provides benefits at all stages from conception through to the performance of the finished structure. Advantages of BIM include: better collaboration and communication between all those involved in a construction project; more effective construction cost estimation; pre-construction project visualisation; and improved scheduling and sequencing throughout project implementation.

BIM technology can also be used to enhance productivity in manufacturing and prefabrication for construction projects, allowing for greater use of modular construction techniques. Furthermore, the adoption of BIM can help to improve construction site safety by highlighting potential hazards and problems in advance.

A study by McKinsey, the global consultancy firm, discovered that 75% of companies adopting BIM reported positive returns on their investments.

BIM Live, which is part of the National Construction Exhibition being held in the Arena MK, Milton Keynes on 29th September, 2020, will examine the latest developments and trends in this fast changing technology. The event will also highlight how the rapid rise in the use of BIM is accelerating the adoption of more sophisticated ICT (Information and Communications Technology) throughout the construction industry, from architects and project managers down to sub-contractors and trades people.
