About this Event
WHAT is BUILDING HOPE: 21 DAYS OF KINDNESS? An annual campaign serving thousands throughout Birmingham & Central Alabama for 21 days from June 1st to June 21st. This initiative aims to mitigate emotional, physical, and financial hardships by spreading kindness and providing support to underserved communities, including women, children, and the elderly.
WHO - Women Under Construction Network (WUCNetwork). As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, WUCN is dedicated to addressing critical economic and provisional needs within underserved communities. With a history of community support since our establishment in 2014, we are committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of women, their children, and the elderly. Our Mission: REPAIRING HOMES, BUILDING WOMEN, CHANGING LIVES!
WHY 21 Days? Most acts of kindness, like feeding the hungry, serving the homeless and assisting the most disadvantaged of our population are performed primarily during major holidays. We believe that acts of kindness should be continuous and are needed by everyone. Some of those in need will serve shoulder to shoulder with us.
HOW? With the generous support of corporations and individuals, WUCNetwork will activate hundreds of volunteers serving thousands in a surge of planned and random acts of kindness throughout Birmingham & Central Alabama for 21 days. Projects include:
- Gift Card Giveaways
- Free Legal Wills Clinic
- Bus Pass Giveaways
- Elderly Care Calls
- Nursing Home Visits
- Sheriff’s Deputy Ride-a-Longs – “Citizen Citations for Doing Good”
- Volunteer support for Women in Public Housing Communities
- Gift Baskets to First Responders, Health professionals, Frontline Workers
- BH21 “YOU MATTER” Care Package Distribution
- BH21 Finale Concert - 50-75 Female Voice Choir comprised of Event Volunteers
- Feeding the Hungry and Homeless
- Lunch on Us events
- Encouragement Days
