Join Phil Pfister at Prairiewoods (120 East Boyson Road in Hiawatha) for an hour-long workshop. We'll discuss best practices for building and maintaining healthy soils, including composting, cover crops, mulching, soil amendments, till versus no-till, watering practices and more. Phil Pfister has lived in Marion for 40 years and, since retiring, he now devotes his time to the community as a Linn County Master Gardener volunteer through Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. He manages the greenhouse at Lowe Park in Marion, helps plan the annual Master Gardener plant sale and shares his knowledge at farmers markets in the community. He has also taught many classes in the community through his Library Talks, at the Linn County Master Garden Winter Gardening Fair and to various groups. Phil became a Master Gardener in 2007 and is now a Lifetime Master Gardener, having accrued ten or more years of service and 1,500 volunteer hours as an active Master Gardener.
