4:30 - 6:00 PM: Panel Discussion

• Hosted by Engage's Cheryn Stone, this panel will explore the One Small Step process, impact, and future strategies for bridging divides throughout Central Florida.
• Engage in discussions with One Small Step conversation partners, StoryCorp's leadership, and One Small Step staff.

StoryCorp's One Small Step is designed to bridge political and ideological divides through the simple yet profound act of listening. It aims to rekindle the spirit of compassion and understanding among people who might otherwise see themselves as too different ever to connect.

At its heart, One Small Step pairs strangers who hold opposing political views, inviting them to engage in a structured conversation where they share personal stories, experiences, and core values rather than discussing politics outright. This approach emphasizes empathy over debate, fostering meaningful connections that transcend partisan lines.

The project's power lies in its ability to humanize those we might otherwise consider "the other," demonstrating that despite our differences, we share common hopes, fears, and dreams.

Central Florida Public Media, in partnership with StoryCorps' One Small Step, has facilitated conversations with over 40 residents of Central Florida to date. Many of these discussions have been broadcast with Central Florida Public Media's digital and broadcast audiences to share our efforts and inspire others in the community.
