The City of Golden Valley’s Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Commission (DEIC) is hosting a discussion featuring City Manager Noah Schuchman, who will describe his role, share current City initiatives, and explain how equity and policy shape daily operations.The program’s second portion will examine the meaning of the word “equity” and its importance in City planning. It will also highlight the DEIC’s role in promoting diversity and inclusion within the City’s planning processes, using data that shows Golden Valley has an 18.4% non-white population compared to the national figure of 42.2%. In Golden Valley, homebuyers need incomes 14% higher than the median income to afford a median-priced homes. About 70% of residents own their homes.
Following this discussion and a review of this year’s DEIC forum topics, attendees will share ideas for future discussion themes.
