Learn how to design an energy efficient home to keep your power bills down and reduce your impact on the environment!
About this Event

Do you want to live in the eco-home of your dreams but have no idea where to start? Well then this workshop is for you!

This workshop will explain how to design a energy efficient home and is perfect for anyone who is planning to build or renovate.

We understand that building your home is overwhelming and you want to get it right from the start. Let us take some of the confusion away by helping you understand the importance of energy efficient design and how to achieve this in your building plans.

Through this workshop, you will gain insights on what passive solar design is and how to achieve it through your home building plans, listening to expert advice on the matter to help plan your build.

You will learn the benefits of incorporating energy efficiency in the design at the planning and building stages and how this pays off in cheaper power bills and increased home comfortability. A win win!

This workshop is hosted by the City of Melville, in partnership with Switch Your Thinking.

Type of event and expectations

Adult learning space- guests are requested to turn phones to silent, where possible, remain seated for the duration of the event, be respectful to facilitator and attendees alike and exit discreetly when needed. This event is unlikely to be suitable for children.

Disabled parking is available at front of Centre, rooms are located on multiple levels via a ramp and toilets are available within the venue. For specific access requirements please feel free to call or email the centre at (08)9364 0191 or [email protected]

Directions to centre

Please consider using public transportation. A bus stop, just a 2-minute walk away, is conveniently located near the Centre and services multiple routes.

The Centre is located at 555 Leach Highway, Winthrop in the Piney Lakes reserve. To reach us, if heading westbound, take the first left after Murdoch Drive on Leach Highway. If coming from the Fremantle area, continue on Leach Hwy across Murdoch Drive and use the designated U-turn just after the lights to move to the westbound lanes. Go back through the lights at Murdoch Drive and take the first left. Please park in the signed public carpark.

Bring the following items for recycling at Piney Lakes when you attend a workshop: household batteries, printer cartridges, light globes, mobile phones and chargers, writing instruments, plastic bread tags, oral care products, plastic bottle lids, metal bottle lids and beer can clips.
