Join us for a one-day celebration of creativity, improvisation, and play at Builder’s Block Party. Inspired by the exhibition Something from Everything—which explores how artists transform everyday and overlooked materials into something new—this event takes that spirit of experimentation off the pedestal and into real time.Borrowing from the Iron Chef format, three artists—Xanthe Harris, Jason Manley, and Mike Murdock—will each have three hours to build sculptures using found and recycled materials. The twist? Audience members can throw in “mystery ingredients” to keep things lively.
Kids get in on the action, too—by designing trophies for the artists and building their own creations at a LEGO table.
Live music by SLC Synth Alliance throughout the afternoon will set the stage, with performances by Dviratana, Kveg, Shrugboat (Brad Butler), and cassette DJ Fischloops.
Come cheer on the artists, add your spin to their piles of materials, and see what’s possible when chance, creativity, and community come together.
