Have fun with friends and family as you try to build the most marvellous Royal Coronation-Themed Scarecrow possible in 90 minutes!
About this Event

You will be provided with a build kit (timber frame, straw, string , + some clothes available) but we advise that you bring some old clothes and embellishments with you to make your Royal Scarecrow look as fantastic as possible! An old pair of tights and some stuffing is suggested for the head.

The theme is to make a Scarecrow that should be royal-themed as a mark of the Coronation of King Charles III. Your Scarecrow must also be practical, and be capable of scaring birds from crops for a season.

Give your finished Scarecrow a Royal name!

All proceeds from the entry fees will go towards the Friends of the Walled Kitchen Garden, and be used to maintain and enhance the Walled Kitchen Garden.

Build slots of 90 minutes start from 10.00am, and priced at £12 per group (limited availability). Participants are requested not to arrive more than 5mins before their booked time

A family or group must be no more than 6 persons. Children of team members aged less than 6 yrs are not counted as part of the team but are welcome to participate. Children must be supervised at all times. Please do not bring dogs to this event.

Entrants must provide contact details*(lead adult name and telephone number) for notification of results. (* these will be destroyed immediately after the event). Only the winners will be notified and results will be posted as soon as practicable on: https://www.facebook.com/haighhallwalledgardenvolunteers

Finished Scarecrows including dressings will be retained and used in the Kitchen garden for the growing season.

Multiple prizes to be won! The Scarecrows will be judged by an independent panel of judges on the second day from 4pm, and winners notified as soon as possible.

Each Scarecrow will be marked on:

Humour of Scarecrow including name (does it make you smile?)

Scarecrow build quality

Royal Aesthetics of the Scarecrow

Suitability of the Scarecrow to perform duty. I.e.., scare birds!
