Bugsy is the name of a solo jazz choreography created by the West Coast Jitterbugs, a swing association in Gothenburg, Sweden. It was developed during the pandemic, when participants were invited to choreograph sections of the song and submit their contributions virtually. The final compilation was put together by Mina Warringer, Jonas C. Larsson, and Anne Normann. The choreography is done to the song "Bugsy" by by Henrik Johnsson, a jazz musician from Gothenburg who plays in the band Gentlemen & Gangsters. Depending on who you ask, 10 to 30 people participated in the project of building the choreography. One of those people was Hanna Linn, who has agreed to teach us the entire dance!
Hanna Linn is a swing dance enthusiast from Gothenburg, Sweden, where she teaches teaches Solo/Authentic Jazz and Lindy Hop/Charleston as a lead, follow, and switch. She’s been a wonderful addition to our Cleveland scene, and we are so excited that she is willing to share this piece of her home scene with us! Make sure to come take this class and say goodbye before Hanna goes back to Gothenburg.
Admission to this class is $30 at the door. It will be hosted at the Brownhoist, at 4403 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH. Free parking is available in the lot at the corner of St. Clair and E. 45th, as well as on surrounding streets.
