Please join us to discover exciting new talents at this free entry, family-friendly show at the Tamworth Youthie on Wednesday 21 January. The walk-up format of the inaugural Buddy Knox Talent Contest marks a return to the roots of the Aboriginal Cultural Showcase, and creates the type of environment that Buddy is really passionate about, with the potential to uncover real, raw, undiscovered and emerging talent from across First Nations communities.
We are fortunate to have attracted a high-profile judging panel for the first year of the Buddy Knox Talent Contest. The panel includes Warren H Williams, an icon of the Aboriginal music industry; Noelene Bosworth, Director of the Tamworth Conservatorium of Music; and rising star Aimee Hannan, a local Aboriginal musician and star of the ABC series Headliners.
The judges will select the top performer across three age categories, with each category winner earning a place in the Aboriginal Cultural Showcase line-up on the FanZone stage on Friday 23 January - one of the Festival’s major stages.
The Buddy Knox Talent Contest is made possible in 2026 by the generous support of the Tamworth Aboriginal Employment Strategy, Aboriginal Regional Arts Alliance NSW, and Tamworth Aboriginal Medical Service.
