If you have seen Buddhadatta on stage you will be aware of their reverence for Buddhism by what they wear onstage and the topics of their songs, inspired by practising, throat-singing Buddhist monk / band leader, Vogli Bonze. Bass player Seiko engages almost the entirety of the audience with constant eye contact as she swathes her samurai bass. Drummer Takami, sits up back: cool, calm holding the strong, loud beat that he has perfected from his years in legendary Japanese underground bands.
Together, they are a smile on the face, move the body, life affirming experience that is so welcome in our lives.
With their debut full length vinyl album, Buddhadatta has committed 9 well honed and well loved songs from their live set onto tape in the studio. As such this is almost a greatest hits package, from a band that we are all just beginning to fully discover!
