We are hosting a Bubbles Tasting Evening. Tickets are $35 with $5 from every ticket sold going to the Simply the Breast - Dragon Boat Team. We will also have a silent auction on the night. The evening will begin with a bubbles cocktail on arrival, followed by Martin taking us through the tasting of 5 delicious bubbles which be accompanied your own grazing cocktail glass which will hold food that will compliment the bubbles. Simply the breast is a breast cancer survivor’s dragon boat team based here in Marlborough. Dragon boating is a team sport which empowers women who have had a breast cancer diagnosis to lead normal lives through fitness, camaraderie, and friendship with like-minded women. Dragon boating can support the healing process at any point during the cancer journey, and is open to all ages, abilities, and fitness levels. Simply the Breast dragon boat team was founded in 2007 and continues to support women and their families by offering the sport not only to breast cancer survivors but to their families and support networks as well.
They train on the Wairau River throughout the year, attending 5-6 regattas a year in New Zealand and last season they medaled at the South Island dragon boat Premier Women (non-breast cancer survivors) Championships. A magnificent result for the team.
In August 2026, France is hosting the International Breast Cancer Participatory Festival at Lac Bouget, Aix-les-Bains in France where over 4000 breast cancer survivors from around the world will join together on the water to compete, swap stories and reignite friendships made at the last event, but above all to celebrate life and remember those less fortunate than us. NZ proudly hosted the last festival in 2023, and it was a true reflections of how a sport can bring together in unity so many people from diverse backgrounds who have been affected by a similar life threating diagnosis. Lake Karapiro turned pink for 4 days.
Simply the Breast has 7 members who will be travelling to France for the event in August 2026. They are fundraising to be able to attend this event.
Tickets are available from Bottle-O Redwood
